Around the House

Adam helped me make cookies this morning. After sifting the flour into the bowl he said, "Look Mama, I made a mountain!"

Adam and Scott reading the latest acquisition from the library. This kid loves books.

Adam found a little bag of conversation hearts left over from Valentine's Day. He wanted to eat them so I told him to sit at the table. When I came back in there was a little pile in front of Jane. When I asked Adam about it he said, "Those Janie's hearts". What a good little sharer!

I just had to show this one of Jane before church on Sunday. What a chunky monkey!

We babysat for some friends last weekend and they have a nice big tub. Adam thoroughly enjoyed swimming in it.

The weather has been improving slowly over the last couple of weeks. Adam is really enjoying being outside. Jane is getting used to it.

That's all for now!

Happy 2nd Birthday!

We celebrated Adam's 2nd birthday on the 15th. Last year he really didn't "get" opening presents. He gets it now.

Grandma Holmes gave him this beautiful child-size rocking chair. He loves it and sits in it every night at story time. Scott and I are still relegated to the ottoman.

Adam was excited about the idea of candles but not the reality of them. Scott helped him blow them out.

We did a cookie cake because it is dairy-free and Adam has eaten cookies and liked them (not so with cake). After all that thought and work, he didn't take a single bite. That doesn't mean, however, that it didn't get eaten!

My Imminent Death

So I bought these today on Ebay. I got 24 in a variety of colors for $24. Then I went to JoAnn's and bought these:

I clipped off the stems and hot glued clips on them.

The end result was 9 different flower clips.

When the baby headbands come I will put one on this girl and attach one of the flowers.

At that moment the cuteness will overcome me and I will die, hence the title of this post.

For Deborah

My friend, Deborah, made an adorable hat for Jane. She brought it over and then I couldn't find it anywhere. Long story short; I found it. It's my new favorite accessory for Jane, I'm sure you can see why:

Jane also agrees that it makes her look fabulous.

Don't you just wanna take a bite out of her?

Feats of Strength

Hey Janie, what'cha doin'?

Don't you know you're only three months old?!

You're not supposed to be doing this yet!!

Look at that self-satisfied little grin...
I thought that perhaps since Jane is a much mellower baby than Adam that she might stay a baby a little longer than he did. This is Adam at six months. That is only three months away.
Could someone please tell Jane that her Momma needs her to stay a baby a little while longer?

Happenings

Nothing big going on around here. Just your everyday stuff, but I thought I'd share some of my favorite moments from the last couple of weeks.

Adam got a marble track for the fridge (stove). It's magnetized. He loves it; this kids LOVES marbles.

Adam continues to "help" Jane through tummy time.

Jane reached her 1/4 birthday, and so we made her the traditional 1/4 cake.

She's just thrilled to be 3 months old!

I didn't have this blog when Adam was 3 months old. Here he is with his 1/4 cake.

Adam enjoyed his first full feature length film this week. We watched The Polar Express and munched popcorn, both are new favorites of his.

Well that's all the "exciting news from the Holmes' household! Check back next time for more earth shattering events like "Adam Takes a Walk" and "Jane Coos".

The Many Uses of the Bumbo

A friend from work gave me a Bumbo as a gift when I was pregnant with Adam. We got a lot of use out of it when Adam was a baby, and now Jane has inherited it. She is usually the centerpiece at dinnertime:

Here is Adam as a baby enjoying the Bumbo.

I have been putting it in the sink when I bathe Jane:

Adam has "repossessed" the Bumbo several times since we brought it back out for Jane. It's funny, we put it away when he was a baby because he was too fat to fit in it. Now he's back to being able to fit in it again!

Buffalo

I don't know why, but whenever I post pictures lately, they post in the reverse order that I uploaded them. I have a lot of pictures this time, so I'm not going to rearrange them. So stay with me here.

We went to Buffalo last weekend for our nephew's birthday party. A trip to Buffalo is never complete without a stop at Scott's favorite place, Mighty Taco. I don't share his love for it but I'm usually able to find something I like. Adam loved the loganberry drink:

Here are the kids playing with the gift we brought. It's a marble track. Adam loves marble tracks and we were a little afraid he would have a hard time understanding that it wasn't his. There were some altercations, but nothing outside the realm of normal for a not-quite-two-year-old.

My sister-in-law found these great cake molds and made mini car cakes and then we all helped deorate them and arrange them on the "road". So cute.

There were only five other kids at the party and three of them wouldn't play "pin the fire hat on the dog" so the adults all took a turn. I would like you all to take note of whose hat is closest:

In case it's too blurry, that's my hat on top. Take that you three- year-olds! I love this next picture. My nephew's face is priceless as he watches his Dad.

Adam's turn. I thought he wouldn't want to play and put the glasses on, but he did great and smiled the whole time!

We got to the party a little early so that Adam could nap. Unfortunately we didn't take his propensity for bedhead into consideration. Fortunately, he doesn't have much hair, so a little water did the trick.

Another car shot:

Thanks for sticking with that. Sorry it was so disjointed. If anyone has any suggestions about the reverse posting of the pictures, I would love to hear it!
